AI Automation Cost 2027: Price Guide

What does AI automation cost in 2027? Public prices ($700 audit, builds from $1,500), what changes them, and how to compare quotes.

Short answer: a small AI automation project starts from $1,500. We recommend a $700 audit first, and that fee is credited to your build. If you want a team to keep improving your systems, our monthly plan is $2,500. Bigger projects get a fixed written quote after the audit. All prices are in US dollars.

Most agencies hide their prices behind "book a call". We don't. This guide gives our real prices, what moves them, what official data says about AI projects in the UK, US and Gulf, and a checklist to judge any quote you receive, ours included.

In this guide

  1. Our three prices
  2. What the $700 audit includes
  3. What makes a project cost more
  4. How to work out your own cost per case
  5. What the data says going into 2027 (UK, US, Gulf)

1. What are your three options and what do they cost?

StepPriceTimeWhat it is
Automation Audit$700 fixed7 working daysWe map your process and give you a ranked plan. The fee is credited to your build.
Automation BuildFrom $1,500Typically 3 to 5 weeksWe build and launch one working system. Bigger projects get a fixed quote in writing.
Automation Partner$2,500 per month3 month minimumA team that keeps building, fixing and improving. AI usage and tools are billed at cost.

You do not need all three. Many teams do the audit, then one build, and stop there. The audit also stands alone: you keep the plan whether or not you continue with us.

2. What do you get for the $700 audit?

You send a short brief. Within 7 working days of starting, you receive:

  • A process map of the workflow you want to improve, showing every step, tool and hand-off as it works today.
  • A ranked list of automation opportunities, ordered by how much time they save against how hard they are to build.
  • A written scope for the top-ranked item, covering what the system will do, what it connects to, where a person must approve, and what it will not do.
  • A fixed price and timeline for that build, in writing.
  • A 45 minute walkthrough where you can ask questions.

The plan is yours to keep. If you go ahead with the build, the $700 comes off the price.

3. What makes an AI automation project cost more?

The same task can cost very different amounts. These factors move the price, roughly in the order they matter:

  1. How many systems it must connect to. Reading an inbox is simple. Reading an inbox, matching it to your accounting software, updating your CRM and notifying your team is four connections, and each one needs testing and ongoing upkeep.
  2. How messy the input is. Clean, structured data is cheap to handle. Scanned invoices in six layouts, or support emails in three languages, take more work.
  3. How many exceptions exist. If 95 out of 100 cases follow one rule, that is easy. If every case is "it depends", the system needs more rules, more testing and more human approval steps.
  4. How risky a wrong answer is. A wrong tag on a support ticket is a small problem. A wrong amount on a payment is a big one. Higher risk means more checks, logs and approval steps.
  5. Who looks after it afterwards. Some teams take the code and run it themselves. Others want a partner to keep it running. These are priced differently.
  6. How much it is used. AI model fees are paid to the model provider and depend on volume. We list them separately so nothing is buried inside a bigger number.

The official UK picture matches this. The UK government's 2026 AI adoption survey found that cost was mostly about the time, effort and resources needed to implement and embed AI, not the direct price of the tools (DSIT AI adoption survey 2026). In other words, the software is the cheap part. The fitting-in is the work.

4. How do you work out your own cost per case?

Do not budget by price per token or per tool seat. Budget by cost per finished case, such as one invoice processed, one ticket answered or one lead qualified. Here is the method:

  1. Count how many cases you handle in a month.
  2. Time one case by hand, start to finish.
  3. Multiply to get the hours your team spends each month.
  4. Multiply by the hourly cost of the person who does it.
  5. Compare that monthly figure with the build price plus monthly model and tool costs.

Illustration, not a client case: suppose you process 400 invoices a month and each takes 6 minutes. That is 40 hours a month. If the automation handles most of them and a person only reviews the unclear ones, the hours you get back each month are the number to put against the build price. Use your own figures, not these.

Write the "before" numbers down now. Without them, you cannot tell later whether the automation paid for itself.

5. What does the data say going into 2027?

We cannot predict prices, and we will not pretend to. These are the facts we would want if we were buying.

United Kingdom. The UK government's 2026 survey of 3,503 businesses found that 32% used at least one AI technology, up from 16% in 2025, and 52% of larger firms were adopters. The barriers were practical: limited AI skills affected 67% of adopters, and 65% of non-adopters said they lacked a clear business case or proven return (DSIT). That is why our first step is a written, ranked plan, not a build.

United States and United Kingdom, small business. A 2026 survey of UK and US small and mid-sized firms found that about 9 in 10 named improving productivity as a priority, and AI and automation topped the list of advice they planned to seek out (IT Brief UK).

Gulf. In the UAE, a survey of business leaders for the UAE AI Office and AWS put AI adoption at 72%, up from 53% a year earlier (Gulf Business). That is self-reported use, and a lot of it is basic. ServiceNow's 2026 index found AI spending rising by 124% in Saudi Arabia and 105% in the UAE year on year, while maturity scores stayed near 50 out of 100 (Middle East AI News). Spending is outrunning results.

Worldwide. McKinsey's 2025 survey found that 62% of organisations were at least experimenting with AI agents, but only 23% were scaling an agentic system anywhere in the business (McKinsey, The state of AI in 2025). Gartner predicted in June 2025 that more than 40% of agentic AI projects will be cancelled by the end of 2027, citing rising costs and unclear business value, and estimated that only about 130 of the thousands of vendors claiming agentic AI are genuine (The Star, reporting Gartner). We could not open Gartner's own page, so we cite the news report of it.

What this means for you:

  • Start with one process, not ten. Pick the task your team repeats most, with clear rules.
  • Fix the scope before the build. Unclear value and rising costs are the two reasons projects get cancelled. A written scope and fixed price address both.
  • Keep a person in the loop for risky steps. AI can be confidently wrong. Check it against your own data first.
  • Own your system. Insist on the code and the documentation, so you can change provider without starting again.
  • Be wary of "agent" labels. Ask the vendor to show a working system on your own example, not a demo.

6. How do you compare quotes?

Ask every agency these questions before you compare prices:

  • Is the price fixed and in writing before work starts?
  • What exactly is delivered, and what is not included? Model usage, tools and hosting are the usual surprises.
  • Do I own the code, the repository and the documentation?
  • What happens when the AI is unsure? Does it hand over to a person?
  • How will you test it on my real examples before launch?
  • What does it cost to keep running each month, and who does that work?
  • Can I see a working example on my data before I commit?

Published market price ranges for AI automation vary widely, and most come from vendors selling something, so we do not quote them. A good quote answers the questions above in writing. A cheap quote that cannot is likely to cost more later.

7. What can AI automation not do?

AI automation will not fix a process nobody understands. It will not replace the judgement calls your best people make. It is not worth building for a task that happens twice a month. If the audit shows that a ready-made tool already does the job, we will tell you, and you will have paid $700 instead of a full build.

How much does a simple AI chatbot or agent cost? Builds start from $1,500. The exact price depends on the factors in section 3, and we confirm it in writing before work starts. See our chatbot and AI agent pages for what each includes.

Do I need to know anything technical? No. You explain your business and your process. We handle the technical side and explain it in plain English.

Do I have to replace my current tools? Not usually. We connect the tools you already use, such as your accounting software, CRM and helpdesk. We replace something only when it costs you more than it gives.

Do I own the code? Yes. You receive the full source code, the repository and the documentation.

Is there a long contract? The audit and the build are one-off, fixed-price projects. The partner plan has a 3 month minimum, because automation needs that long to show a real trend. After that it runs month to month.

Where are you based, and can you work in my time zone? We work remotely from Multan, Pakistan, with clients in the UK, US, Europe and the Gulf. We schedule calls in your working hours.

What happens if the audit says I should not build anything? You keep the written plan and we say so plainly. The audit fee is for the plan, not for a sale.

How much does AI automation cost for a small business?

A small project starts from $1,500. We suggest a $700 audit first, which is credited to your build. Larger projects get a fixed written quote after the audit. Model usage and tools are listed separately.

How long does an AI automation project take?

The audit takes 7 working days. A focused first build typically takes 3 to 5 weeks. Larger systems are split into phases, and the timeline is agreed in writing before work starts.

What is the difference between an AI chatbot and an AI agent?

A chatbot answers questions from content you approve. An AI agent reads information, decides what it means and takes an action, such as matching an invoice to a purchase order. Both hand over to a person when unsure.

What costs extra besides the build price?

AI model usage, third-party tools and hosting. They depend on how much the system is used, so we list them separately instead of hiding them in the build price. Ask every agency for this list before you compare quotes.

How do I know if a process is worth automating?

It is a good candidate if it repeats often, follows clear rules and takes real staff time. It is a poor candidate if it happens twice a month or depends on constant judgement calls. The audit ranks your processes on exactly this.

What happens if the AI makes a mistake?

We add validation rules, confidence thresholds, human approval on risky actions and a log of every action. We test on your real examples before launch. Anything the system is unsure about goes to a person.

Will AI automation replace my team?

It takes over repetitive work, such as data entry between systems or first-pass ticket sorting, so your team can spend time on decisions and customers. Risky steps keep a person in charge

Is it better to use a tool like Zapier or n8n, or build custom?

If a ready-made tool does the job, use it. Custom work makes sense when your rules are complex, your data is sensitive, or tool fees keep growing. The audit tells you which case you are in, and we say so plainly

Can you work with businesses in the UK, US, Europe and the Gulf?

Yes. We work remotely from Multan, Pakistan, and schedule calls in your working hours. Prices are in US dollars.
